Rules and Use of Question Tags in English Grammar

    निम्नलिखित दिए गए इन  वाक्यों  पर  विचार  करे ,

    तुम  श्याम   को  जानते  हो  | न  ?              You  know  Shyam  ,   don't  you  ?

    वह  स्कूल  गया  था |  न  ?                        He  went  to  school  ,   didn't  he  ?

    तुम  अनीता   की  बहन  हो |  न  ?             You  are  Anita's  sister  ,   aren't  you ?

    तुम  अंडा  नहीं  खाते  हो |  न  ?                 You  don't  eat  egg  ,   do  you  ?
    

    मोहन रोज स्कूल जाता है | है न?                Mohan everyday goes to school, does not he?
     
    मोहन रोज स्कूल जाता है | क्यों?               Mohan everyday goes to school. Why?
     
    मोहन रोज स्कूल जाता है | है कि नहीं?       Mohan everyday goes to school. Is it or not?

     उपरोक्त  वाक्यों के दूसरे भागों में  (" न","है न", "क्यों", "है कि नहीं") का मतलब एक ही है और इन्हें ही हम Question Tag कहते हैं और इनकी अंग्रेजी इनके प्रथम वाक्य के अनुसार  ही लिखी जाती  हैं |

    Question Tag:- आमतौर पर हम जब किसी से कुछ कहते या बोलते  हैं तो उसके तुरंत  बाद एक वाक्य उस बात को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए और जोड़ देते हैं और ये बाद वाला वाक्य/कुछ शब्द ही   Question Tag कहलता है |


    Question Tag के नियम:-

    1. दोनों वाक्यों का काल (tense) समान होना चाहिए|
    जैसे-
    He works in a Factory . Doesn't he?
    दोनों वाक्य Present Indefinite में हैं|

    2. यदि  वाक्य में  मुख्य वाक्य Positive हो तो Question Tag, Negative और मुख्य वाक्य Negative हो तो Question Tag, Positive होना चाहिए|
    जैसे-
    You are not worthy for this  job. Aren't you? (Incorrect)

    You are not worthy for this  job.. Are you? (Correct)

    3. Question Tag में सदैव Pronoun का प्रयोग करना चाहिए|
    जैसे-
    David is an intelligent boy. Isn't David ? (Incorrect)

    David is an intelligent boy. Isn't He? (Correct)

    Some More  Examples
    1. Sheela and Sony are good friends. Aren't they?
    2. You are not going to office nowadays . Are you?
    3. We never played for money . Did we?
    4. They did good job. Didn't they?
    5. He likes you. Doesn't he?
    6. You and I are not planning for this. Are we?

    Note- I के लिए  Negative Question Tag, Aren't का प्रयोग करते हैं , न कि Amn't


    Questions तथा  Question Tags  में  अंतर  
    Questions एक सम्पूर्ण  वाक्य  होता  हैं  तथा  इनका  प्रयोग  स्वतंत्र  रूप  से  कहीं भी किया जासकता है  जबकि Question  Tags   एक पूर्ण वक्य नहीं होता है और इसका  प्रयोग हम स्वतंत्र  रूप  से  नहीं  कर सकते   हैं    इन्हें  किसी  वाक्य  के  अंत  में  जोड़कर  प्रयोग  करते हैं ।
